It definitely makes me happy to keep the cellar spiders around. I much prefer them to the wolf spiders! The kids call cellar spiders "normal" spiders (to distinguish them from the big, bad spiders, such as black widows, that must be dealt with).

Fascinating & kind of gross
A couple days ago, we woke up to find a wolf spider trapped in the web of one of the many cellar spiders that share our house with us (this particular web was on the floor of our kitchen). The captor had called a good deal of friends and family to feast with her:It definitely makes me happy to keep the cellar spiders around. I much prefer them to the wolf spiders! The kids call cellar spiders "normal" spiders (to distinguish them from the big, bad spiders, such as black widows, that must be dealt with).
